A simple test to see if your webcam is working correctly is by going into the Camera app. This app comes pre-installed on all Windows 10 computers and is also available to download from the Windows Store here. To find the Camera app, go to the search box on the taskbar and search for Camera. Once you have opened the app you should see an image. If this is the case then your camera is working. If you do not see an image, you can try troubleshooting to see if this explains the problem, if not, proceed to the next section.
You should then see a list of available software drivers for your specific laptop. From there, look for Webcam Drivers. If there is an update available, download the file to your PC, and install the software following the instructions given on the HP support webpage. Once you have fully installed the drivers, restart your laptop and then try using the webcam software again. Repeat the steps in the first part of this webpage and your webcam problem should now be resolved.
If you are opening an app, such as Zoom with the intention of using your webcam, but you cannot get the webcam to work, you may not have successfully configured your webcam.
To do so, you will first want to check the webcam settings , following these steps:. Once you have done this, open the respective app that you want to use your webcam with and then try again. Hopefully, this has resolved your issue and you are now able to partake in video calls. Then you can continue using your webcam software in the background once Windows has concluded loading.
Continue troubleshooting if restarting the computer does not resolve the issue. The Hardware and Sound menu can be found in the left-hand menu. It is important to open the Sound setting. You can now clear the Microphone Boost setting by clicking the Level tab and then double-clicking your microphone you have chosen to record.
Possibly you have a problem with how much space your microphone fits in or you may have problems with how close your phone and computer are to each other or using more than one computer at a time. To make sure your device has all current system updates, restart your device after it has been restarted. In the case your Zoom app is outdated, perhaps your device is aging.
A Zoom app or extension should be designed especially for your device or browser upon clicking the official Zoom download link. The camera may need to be paired up with another videoconferencing program, or a website that utilizes your camera may require you to connect to those programs. Ensure that your computer is restarted. Be sure that you have the right permission to use the camera on an Android or iOS device from the Zoom app.
The video function in Zoom can be blocked with no permission from this company. During the initial installation of Zoom, Zoom asks for permission, but you can later access it through settings if Zoom does require this.

Can you help us understand what type of computer, are you running Windows or Mac, and do you know if you are using an external microphone or the one built into your computer? I'm also curious if this has ever worked or if you are maybe just trying for the first time? I'm hoping to learn whether something has changed recently to cause your mic to stop working.
Hi Tefenters thank you for your post adding to this question. Just to be sure are you saying you join Zoom meetings and no one can hear you? I am not sure if you have updated to 5. In you Zoom client make sure you are signed in, then click on Home at the top, click on your profile picture, then Check for Updates.
